Kansas City Recap

We’re baaaaack!! Kinda. We’re actually on our way back to Arkansas right now. Haha. After 5 days of just being able to enjoy one another we’re back and ready (not really) to get back to the real world. Let me start off by saying that Kansas City is beautiful, but it’s sooo HOT!!! Being from Dallas and living in Arkansas I’m pretty use to the heat but KC’s heat was something else! If you’re looking to detox and to sweat a lot, KC is the place for that! Now let’s get down to our KC Recap.

  • Day 1:

After a very early morning, arriving at our hotel and taking a much needed nap, Santiago and I decided to go explore downtown Kansas City. We had done quite a bit of research before going to KC so we kinda knew where we were going. We started the day off by visiting Crowne Center Plaza-they have a lot of cute restaurants and a couple of stores inside of it. We decided to eat at Spin Neapolitan Pizza and it was so good! They even offered a whole wheat, dairy free option that we got and enjoyed! After our meal we walked over to the Liberty Memorial Tower. We really wanted to do the tour and the towers observation deck, but because the tower is made of complete copper and it was 100 degrees outside (people could burn them selves basically) they closed it for the day. We were pretty bummed but the view from the area itself is beautiful!! (Beware: if you’re going to take the steps like we did….good luck.) After enjoying the view of KC’s downtown we walked over to Union Station (they’re right across the street from each other.) While there we were standing under the clock and this lady came up to us and told us it’s tradition to kiss. Being the obedient couple we are, we did just that. (Winky face emoji) After Union Station I wanted to go find some cool murals I had found on Pinterest. After walking for 20 minutes in 100 degree weather (lol at us) we learned it had been painted over! Ugh!! You can imagine my frustration and disappointment when getting there?! At that point we decided it was way too hot and we needed some AC. We decided to walk into some random hotel we found and request a Lyft to the Kansas City Public Library. The Kansas City Public Library is like any other public library but the outside of the building is so beautiful we couldn’t pass it up!! After allll of that we decided it was time to head back to our hotel. We had been going since about 6AM Wednesday morning (mind you this is about 5PM THURSDAY) and needed showers, naps and food. We ended up taking a three hour nap and waking up at about 8:30PM (oops!) We woke up super hungry so decided to order some Hooters wings and just enjoy watching The Office in our hotel room. Day 1 of our Kansas City was very hot and humid, but it was a great way to get the trip started!

  • Day 2:

Day 2 was a bit more relaxing for us. Originally we were going to go to Schlitterbahn but decided not to because we want to go to the one in Texas. After doing some research it seemed like the best place to go in KC was Worlds of Fun and Oceans of fun. The park is half amusement park, half water park. It’s HUGE!! We did so much walking! It’s hands down the nicest, cleanest park I’ve ever been to. It’s very nice! After several hours of riding rides we decided to go home, clean up and head to dinner. We planned on just ordering from Uber Eats but our order got canceled so we just went to the Chili’s across the street. After dinner we decided to walk to a couple of stores across from us and see if we could find anything. It might seem like day 2 was not much but it was for sure the longest day we had!

  • Day 3:

Day three was shopping day!! We decided to go to Country Club Plaza (soooo pretty!! Kinda reminded me of NYC.) After that we caught a ride to Zona Rosa, another shopping center. That place was confusing!! It was outdoors but it had multiple streets that ran all different ways so we ended up just walking in circles, or so it seems. After shopping until we couldn’t shop anymore we headed back to our hotel room to get ready for date night! We chose to go to Bravo! for date night and it was amazing! I had been before, but Santiago hadn’t. He loved it! I’m sure we’ll be going back as there’s one in Little Rock.

  • Day 4

Our last day was such a busy one! We wanted to get in as much as possible since our flight didn’t leave until 9:25PM. We went to the Kansas City Zoo (disclaimer: we know what they do to those animals, and we don’t agree with it-but we had heard really good things about this zoo so we decided why not,) and that took forever! That zoo is huge! And beautiful! They have so many cool things for people to do. After spending about 5 hours at the zoo we rushed over to the one BBQ spot everyone raves about, Q39. We picked up some food, went back to our hotel and devoured it. Once done we fished packing up, checked out of our hotel, dropped off our bags and headed to Legends Outlets for even more shopping! We spent a good 4 hours at Legends and once we were done there it was time to go back for our bags and head to the airport. We decided to eat dinner at the airport, a place called Pork and Pickle. It was okay. I wouldn’t say it was amazing. After dinner we were headed back yo Dallas, well after an hour flight delay!!! Overall, Kansas City was great! We love exploring new places and I cannot wait to explore some more places in the future! What are some of your favorite places to visit? We need some more ideas!!Kimberly Guevara
